The West of England Sport Trust works as a network of organisations in the West of England to promote lifelong participation in sport and physical activity. It has over 40 member organisations from local authorities to HE/FE establishments, National Governing Bodies of Sport, and the school sports partnerships. The core teams' main aim is to work to strengthen this network and improve the quality and quantity of opportunities for our communities to engage in sport and physical activity. Key areas of work include the development of sporting competition in schools, development of the workforce and delivery of national sport and physical activity initiatives.

We have a core team of 12 staff based at the University of the West of England and are the County Sports Partnership for the West of England which comprises the Local Authority areas of Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & NE Somerset and North Somerset.

A non-executive Board of Trustees is legally responsible for the overall strategy and direction of the Trust, however 4 working Forums and an Executive Committee shape the operational and strategic priorities for the Trust, respresenting a wide range Wesports membership and relevant industry sectors. Wesports Core Staff and Senior Management Team work with these forums and the Executive to implement agreed strategic direction and provide a conduit to the Trust Board.

The Trust also works to secure funding for activity in the West of England, however it is not a grant giving charity in the normal sense of the word but moreover works to support delivery through a range of member organisations.
